Smith Early Care and Education Sold in Texas

Early childhood education leaders Tymothy Smith and Kevin Miller have been steadily growing Smith Early Care and Education since 2011, providing families early learning that exceeds state and national standards at six centers throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area. To elevate their goal of moving early childhood education into a new era, Smith and Miller partnered with HINGE Advisors to transition ownership to a dynamic regional early learning provider.

"We've had the privilege of knowing Tym and Kevin for over 20 years through our shared advocacy efforts for the early childhood education industry," says Kathy Ligon, Founder & CEO of HINGE Advisors. "They have done a brilliant job of developing top-quality schools and have always had a strong drive to take early education to new heights. When we uncovered a Texas-based provider looking to acquire best-in-class centers in the area, we knew it could be a perfect fit for them."

Smith Early Care and Education is widely recognized for its programs for infants through private kindergarten that are accredited by the National Accreditation Commission for Early Care and Education offered by the Association of Early Learning Leaders (AELL). Rooted in a compassionate school-family culture, its centers prepare children to excel in public education while allowing them to learn through play.

Smith, an early education trainer and coach who serves on the AELL Board of Directors, is also known for his efforts to shift the perception of the industry away from the daycare or babysitter stereotype.

"HINGE helped us find an incredible opportunity we didn't even know we were looking for," say Smith and Miller. "We weren't in the market to sell, but we trust the HINGE team and know they have our and our schools' best interests front and center. After realizing how this special buyer could further enhance our vision, we decided that joining a larger organization was the best move for everyone."

The negotiations and sale of Smith Early Care and Education were led by a seasoned team of HINGE early education business experts, including Ligon, Transaction Advisor Henry Tiberi, Senior Financial Analyst Rusty Bailey, Financial Analyst Marnie Rhen, and Diligence Managers Carrie Pergerson and Melissa Davis.

"This transaction is yet another example that illustrates how being in tune with the needs of hundreds of buyers and investors allows HINGE to bring early education owners the right opportunities at the right time. When you're part of the HINGE community, you're always top of mind, whether you think you want to sell tomorrow or in 10 years," says Tiberi.

"The whole HINGE team is up there as the best of the best," add Smith and Miller. "We'll be forever grateful for them and encourage early education owners who may be ready to find a successor to connect with them sooner rather than later."
