2020 SHIFT Miami: A Recap

Thank you to the more than 300 childcare business owners and operatives that attended our 2020 SHIFT Childcare Leaders Conference in Miami last week! Attendees from 142 businesses operating in 36 states across the U.S. as well as internationally came together to learn from, engage with and collaborate alongside early education providers and stakeholders.

The event kicked off with a Havana Nights-themed welcome reception complete with a cigar bar, make-your-own mojito station, live music and a ‘fedorable’ selfie wall. It was the perfect start to a week of inspirational content, valuable networking and a whole lot of fun!

Content began on Wednesday with Phil Vacarro sharing the private equity perspective on early education followed by a panel on universal pre-k inclusion and our very first SHIFTER, Mindology Fitness Kids Founder Troy Byer. Breakouts included tips on branding, real estate, personal finance, emerging innovations and much more. And the day wrapped with a great keynote from CEO of Primrose Schools, Jo Kirchner, as well as a cocktail hour and a half in the Eden Roc Penthouse.

SHIFTER Sholom Strick launched our second day of content with a hilarious story about a marketing gimmick gone wrong and was followed by a buyer panel and SHIFTER Rebecca Amis from MUSE Schools. The day’s breakouts covered topics on security, marketing, federal revenue sources, recession planning and hiring tips. Thursday ended with a real treat for our attendees—a keynote presentation from the author of Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less, Greg McKeown. Greg left attendees with more than a few takeaways as well as a signed copy of his book!

Friday hosted a number of amazing main stage speakers including SHIFTERs Vivian Cain and Rudy Gupta as well as Avathon Operating Partner, Ofa Stead, and HINGE Brokers Head of Business Development, Kathe Petchel!

The two and a half day event was filled with more than just content, though. Attendees got to enjoy morning yoga sessions on the beach, delicious meals and snacks at breaks, neck, back and shoulder massages during lunch, an endless array of gifts and promo items, extended social hours, and a new and improved mobile app.
